Artemisia absinthium
Certified Organic wormwood, hand-harvested at peak essential-oil concentration on our farm in Charlevoix, Québec, and dried at low temperature for distillers, vermouth and bitters makers, and serious herbalists. The classic absinthe herb — silver-green, resinous, and bracingly bitter, the way real wormwood should be.
Why Our Wormwood
- 🌿 Certified Organic and grown in Québec — no sprays, no synthetic inputs, just regenerative farming on our Charlevoix farm.
- ✋ Hand-harvested at peak — cut just before flowering, when essential-oil concentration is highest.
- 🌡️ Low-temperature dried on the farm — at 35–40°C to preserve the volatile aromatics that high-heat drying drives off.
- 📦 Direct from farm — no commodity warehousing — most "organic wormwood" is years old by the time it reaches you. Ours ships from this year's harvest.
Look for: bright silver-green colour, a clean resinous fragrance when you open the bag, and intact leaf structure rather than broken-down dust.
Key Uses
- For absinthe — the foundation herb in the initial maceration and distillation. Often blended with Roman wormwood and hyssop in traditional formulas.
- For vermouth and herbal bitters — wormwood gives vermouth its name (from German Wermut) and contributes bitter backbone to digestive bitters formulas.
- As a traditional digestive bitter — used in European herbalism since Galen and Pliny to support digestion before or after meals.
- For herbal tea — bracingly bitter; use a small pinch (a quarter teaspoon or less), often blended with milder herbs.
