Echinacea purpurea
Our certified Organic Echinacea purpurea is grown in living soil on our farm in Quebec and hand-harvested at peak bloom. We dry the flowers and leaves at low temperatures to protect their colour and active compounds, and we offer fresh root by pre-order at harvest — a gentle, versatile herb for everyday tea and immune-supporting blends.
Why Our Echinacea Purpurea
- Certified Organic, grown in living soil without synthetic inputs
- Hand-harvested at peak bloom, when the aerial parts are richest
- Dried at low temperatures to protect cichoric acid, polysaccharides and colour
- Direct from our Quebec farm — dried flowers and leaves, plus fresh root at harvest
You can see it in the deep colour of the petals and smell it in the fresh, green aroma of the leaf.
Key Uses
- Dried flowers and leaves for a caffeine-free herbal tea
- A base for immune-supporting seasonal blends
- Fresh root for making your own tinctures (pre-order)
Aerial or Root?
For purpurea, the aerial parts — flowers and leaves — are the everyday choice and what we focus on drying for tea. The root is prized for tinctures, and we harvest it fresh to order rather than keeping much dried, because cleaning and drying root well is slow work. Not sure which echinacea to choose? See our guide to angustifolia vs purpurea.
Ordering Fresh Root
Fresh root is available by pre-order. Choose the Fresh Root option above (minimum 5 kg) or contact us to reserve — we harvest your roots to order and ship them when they're ready, usually in early fall. Fresh root makes an exceptional tincture; for the method, see our guide on how to make an echinacea tincture.
How to Use
Steep 1–2 teaspoons of dried flowers and leaves in hot water for 10–15 minutes; for tinctures and other preparations, see our echinacea tea guide.
